Then and Now

Every now and then, now meets then and then meets now
Reminding the present her of the why, the when, the how
She’s different, and yet the same, than who she grew to be
Living as a self many know, but few ever really see
For everything she was, and all that shaped her til today
Every unfulfilled dream she reimagined along the way
Every monumental shift that arrived without a warning
Came a moment, or a meeting, she would have missed
out on ever knowing

You see it’s true, what Foreman sings, "life is seldom
what you plan"

Yet the cards that God has dealt her, she’d never
trade for her old hand
